About Us
|

The Blanding's Turtle is the CLA symbol.
The Blanding's is an endangered species that has been spotted numerous times around our lakes.
It's a reminder that we share the lake with other creatures that have been here longer than humans.

The Comfort Lakes Association (CLA) is you! All lakeshore owners, lakeshore
access owners and other friends of the lake are encouraged to become members for the whopping sum of $25/year.
The CLA Board is a group of your neighbors who have volunteered to meet monthly and act as the clearinghouse
for your concerns and the concerns of our waterbodies.
Working with local and county government bodies, state agencies and the local Watershed District, the CLA keeps
our issues in front of policy makers and local decision makers.
The CLA board mostly concentrates on education for its members surrounding clean water issues that affect Big
and Little Comfort. A couple of times a year we also host community events—an annual 4th of July boat parade and picnic and a
winter ice event - to encourage neighbors to get to know each other and provide an opportunity to share stories of life on the lake.
The CLA was formed in 1989 by concerned landowners: Diana McEvoy, Darv Bethke, Josette Schwarz, Bill & Mary Kiltey.
